Case Study - Food Products Distribution

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

The customer is a leading distributor of pet food and products to pet shops, vet clinics and pet lovers in Singapore. Customer’s previous system is aging and disparate (finance and operation systems are separate) and cannot cope with the increasing volume of business.

Business Challenges

Some of the challenges faced using previous system includes

  • No real time visibility on stock status. Manual stock card are being used to update stock status

  • Batch numbers and expiry dates of products are manually tracked, resulting in wastage when products expire without knowledge

  • Manual entry of large volumes of data when containers of purchases arrive

  • Due to high order volume, some deliveries are missed out or delayed. Currently, overdue deliveries are not tracked in system resulting in customer complaints

Expectations and Objectives

  • To implement an integrated system with sales, purchase, inventory, CRM and finance functions which can be customized to import data such as incoming goods data.

  • To track near expired products to better manage wastage and enhance food safety control.

  • To allow major customers to upload orders via excel thereby saving time and preventing mistakes from duplication

  • To allow major suppliers to upload goods receiving with batch and expiry date information via excel to save time

System Recommended

SAP Business One, Crystal Report, Customised Import Function for goods receiving and sales ordering
